Tofino is a beautiful city in the west coat of Vancouver. It is the farthest at the west of Canada. We can only access the island by boat or sea plane.

The city

The population is about 1650 people, and there are a lot of tourists (more than a million per year). The city has been named Tofino in the honour of the Spanish hydrographer Vincent Tofino de San Miguek in 1792. He was the Rear Amiral of the Spanish Naval Academy of Cadiz.

Activities

There is a huge amount of activities that can be done in the city, like kayaking, surfing, bear and wh

ale watching, fishing, relaxing in the hot

springs, hiking, going at the beach and exploring the vegetation.

Obviously, there are some fancy hotels and restaurents with very nice attends.

Festivals

Like every city in the world, Tofino has its festivals. The Pacific Realm Whales Festival is celebrating very March with the Migration of thousands of grey whales. The Tofino Shorebird Festival is at the end of April, counter to the Tofino Food and Wine Festival, that is at the beginning of June. One of the most popular event is the Tofino Lantern Festival at the en of August. At mid-September there are two days of « Art in the Garden ».

Fact

An interesting fact : some parts of the movie New Moon (sequel of Twilight) has been filmed in Tofino.
